Who’s Behind It? 

I’m Joshua Simpson, founder of A Better Ontario and an Ontario-based professional with a background working in investigative, legal and sensitive matters. 

While pursuing opportunities in public service and law enforcement, I spent years continuing my education, developing professionally and becoming increasingly involved in my community. Somewhere along the way, I realized I didn’t need a particular career or organization to give me a sense of purpose. The opportunity to contribute was already around me.

Several years of volunteering reinforced that lesson. Community service became more than something to add to a résumé. It became an important part of my own development and changed how I think about what it means to pursue a career serving the public.

I believe anyone who wants to serve the public professionally should also understand the importance of serving their community before it becomes their profession. Public service should be more than a career aspiration. It should be something reflected in how we choose to contribute along the way. 

A Better Ontario grew from that idea: create opportunities for people to contribute, bring together what we know and who we know, and find practical ways to leave something better than we found it.
