A Better Ontario gives students an opportunity to complete meaningful community involvement from home while building skills, gaining experience and contributing to real issues affecting Ontario communities.
A computer, tablet or smartphone
Internet access
Approval from your school, where required
A willingness to learn, contribute and follow through
Your participation will focus on a real community issue through structured activities such as research, problem-solving, collaboration and developing ideas or recommendations.
You’ll receive clear instructions and objectives, so you’ll know what you’re working toward and how your contribution fits into the larger project.
You won’t be expected to figure everything out on your own.
We know students already have school, work, sports, family responsibilities and everything else competing for their time.
Most activities are designed to be completed remotely and flexibly, using your computer, tablet or phone. You can contribute from home without needing regular transportation or another fixed weekly commitment.
Meaningful involvement should be accessible.
Before beginning, check with your school to make sure the opportunity can count toward your community involvement requirement.
We’ll make that easy. A Better Ontario will provide a School Approval Package explaining the activities, supervision, educational purpose, safety, hour tracking and verification process.
You bring the opportunity. We’ll provide the information your school needs to review it.
